Keith Rowe Glass

Murrine Pod

Keith Rowe

This new works of 'Murrine' will be shown at Kirra Gallery and SOFA Chicago later in this year.

I like the looseness as the colors fight to have a say in the final shapes. I want many images to be seen (I have my own visions) hopefully they will not be the only ones perceived.
Murrine Pocket My work has a constant reference to light and form. My background in photography taught me to freeze time.

Glass allow me to explore elements within, the decoration is caught, and the only motion is the light as it passes. Patience and vigilance, as day changes to night and new perceptions emerge, exposing nuances, giving the viewer a greater insight to the world around us .If I can assist in showing different aspects of life then my job as an artist is becoming satisfactory.
By watching my glass works, I hope to enrich your day to day activities. There are intangible things that only you will see, this gives me joy to know that there is so much that I do not see, and this helps in my search. The back of the casting was made using gear cogs to keep me from becoming to internal in my explorations as I view, it keeps reminding me that I live in the world of constant evolution and progress.

Blue Pocket

I have acquired a love of the landscape and have seen it take a place in my work that has not been forced.
Osmosis is a word I use to explain how my kids learn through absorption. This same term is how I see the landscape enter my pieces without really trying. The constant seeing is enough to have it meld into the work. Up to this point the designs are of an abstract nature and I have a desire to be more descriptive and through the many decorative techniques I have learnt over the years I feel I have the ability to show what it is I feel about my immediate environment

I am exploring my own spiritual needs and want to use the idea of the landscape as a vehicle to delve deeper. Most of my work is based in glass and photography. This does not mean that the glass will reflect the photograph or vise versa. These are two mediums that have been a constant part of my life.
Beginning with photography, from the age of 12 years and then glass for the last nearly 30 years. I have over the years managed to combine them in simple ways.

Keith I feel the need to show more people about the beauty of glass. This is a material that has 5000 years of life and very few people are aware of how it is made. Its now more than 25 years since I began working for myself as a glass maker. I have found an art medium that has me searching most days for new things and ways of working.
