Keith Rowe Glass

Birth Place

Kayo Yokoyama

Born In Japan, Graduated from Sydney University, Sydney College of the Arts with Honors in 2000.
I have started engraving when I was in the University. It was a great encounter for new way to deal with glass. Make my own blank glass then work on the surfaces, using diamond tools to curve in and out.
Glass is the unique material to work on and it has been giving me pressures to work on. I have done some traditional motives on the glass as well as new motifs. Now, I am working at Keith Rowe Blackheath Gallery, having a working bench gives me challenge to manage my own time and desires. Cage-Cut
I am working at Gallery, dealing many people who admires glass arts as well as other arts that we have in the Gallery is giving me good chances to talk to people, talk about Arts.
Also I blow glass when I can. Working with hot glass and cold glass are two different methods which is two different experiences and I do enjoy it.

I have lived in United States when I was young, it was interesting experiences and got me thinking about identity of myself, our society and world. When I was living in Japan, under my parents wings, it was nothing to worry and nobody think that you do not belong there. But when I placed myself in totally different places, it really made me to think what am I, who am I and what I am doing in this world.
There are many different people in the society, not like in Japan. In Japanese society, majority of people is Japanese descendants, but that rule does not exist in another society.
